- How does a team apply for a Wild Card position?
Wild Card applications will be included on the Intent to Proceed to Provincials Forms which will be available on the ORA website. The online Intent to Proceed to Provincials Form must be completed and submitted by November 20th. Please check with your Regional G&T Coordinator for the deadline to submit the Intent to Proceed Form with the signatures of the bench staff and the Provincials registration fee to the Region.

- Does a Quebec tournament qualify as an Out-of-Region tournament?
Out of Region refers only to tournaments held inside Ontario, but not in the region of the team in question.
- Do any Quebec tournament games count for stats?
Out-of-Province tournament games count if played against another Ontario team registered in the same division and level with O.R.A.
- How many tournaments must my team attend?
Every team applying to attend the ‘U12’ Petite Provincial Event or ‘A’ Provincials must attend 2 O.R.A. Sanctioned tournaments; one of these must be out-of-region; however both can be out of region (NW exemptions allowed as per Operating Manual G&T section. Every team applying to attend ‘AA’ Provincials must attend 4 O.R.A. Sanctioned tournaments; at least two of these must be out-of-region and in two different regions, however, more than two can be out of region.
- How does G&T get results from the tournaments?
Each O.R.A. tournament host must submit their results within 5 days to the Regional G&T Coordinator
- How does the Provincial G&T Committee get results from the out-of-province games that count?
Both teams are required to submit these results to their Regional G&T Coordinator as soon as possible after their game(s).
- Who ensures that the stats are correct?
Coaches are required to verify the correct postings for tournament results and to check that ranking statistics on the O.R.A website are accurate. Contact the Regional G&T Co-ordinator if there are any errors immediately.
- How do we know what tournaments qualify for using stats?
Tournaments completed by the deadlines qualify. The U12 teams attending the U12 Petite Provincial Event in Oshawa have a deadline date of March 3rd for tournament stats. The U14, U16, U19 and 18+ ‘A’ teams attending Provincials in Nepean have a deadline date of February 17th for tournament stats.
- Do the top fourteen teams automatically go to Provincials?
For all ‘A’ divisions, the Regions have a rep and the host is allowed a team in each division. The regional rep and the host are not guaranteed to be in the top tier in any division. Any other openings will be filled with the Wild Cards. A confirmed team may be further down in the rankings i.e. if the Host team is #16 in the rankings then only 13 teams from the top would be attending.
- How does my team know if they received a Wild Card?
Rankings will be shown in alphabetical order until the deadline. At that time the rankings will be verified and sorted by ranking. Wild Card spots will be noted. Regional G&T Coordinators will then notify their teams of the final rankings and the Wild Card selections.
- How will the pools for the teams attending the U12 Petite Provincial Event in Oshawa be determined?
All teams will have their stats against each other sorted and be dealt with in a similar manner to Wild Cards. The Provincial G&T Committee will then assign the groupings and notify their teams as to which division they will play in.
- How will the A Provincials tiers be determined?
The overall teams will be decided three week before the first day of Provincials. After that all of those teams will have their stats against each other sorted and be dealt with in a similar manner to Wild Cards. The Provincial G&T Committee will then assign the groupings. Rankings will be shown in alphabetical order until the deadline. At that time the rankings will be verified and sorted by ranking. Wild Card Spots will be noted. Regional G&T Coordinators will then notify their teams of the final rankings and the Wild Card selections.
- How will the AA Provincials rankings be determined?
Only one game between the same teams will count towards the rankings. The Provincial G & T Committee will determine at the beginning of the year which game will count if two teams are going to play each other multiple times.
Coaches will be encouraged to work cooperatively, to contact each other to find out which tournaments their teams are applying to so that they can see all teams in their division during the season to help the selection process of the ranking games. The Provincial G & T Committee will have the final decision as to which game will count as ranking games
-2 points for win, 1 point for tie, 0 points for a loss
-The tie breaking chart will be used to rank teams.
For the “AA” Provincials if there are eleven (11) teams or less in a division, then there will be one pool at provincials. If there are twelve (12) or more the division will be split into two tiers based on ranking. The two tiers will be independent of each other and there will be no crossover between TIERS.
- Can our team choose which stats they want to use?
No you cannot.
2013 Provincial Events - Accommodations
The procedure for the 2013 Provincial Events for booking of accommodations will proceed as noted below.
No one will be booked until the team is confirmed to be attending.
On November 25th, Ontario Ringette will send Hudson Travel a list of teams who will be attending the ‘U12’ Petite Provincial Event in Oshawa and the teams who will be attending the ‘AA’ Provincial Championships in Waterloo. On February 13th, Ontario Ringette will send Hudson Travel a list of teams who will be attending the ‘A’ Provincial Championships in Nepean as Regional Reps and on February 21st, Ontario Ringette will send Hudson Travel a list of teams who will be attending the ‘A’ Provincial Championships as Wild Cards.
For each team, Hudson Travel will receive two contact names along with email addresses and phone numbers. These will have been verified by the Regional G&T Coordinator.
On December 1st, Hudson Travel will contact via email, the teams who are attending the ‘U12’ and the ‘AA’ Provincial Events. On February 13th, Hudson Travel will contact via email, the teams who are attending the ‘A’ Provincial Event as Regional Reps and on February 21st, Hudson Travel will contact via email, the teams who are attending the ‘A’ Championships as Wild Cards. If one of your authorized team contacts has not heard from Hudson Travel by 4:00 p.m. on the specified day, then they should contact Hudson Travel directly. No one should contact Hudson Travel directly prior to 4:00 p.m. on December 1st for the ‘U12’ and ‘AA’ teams, on February 13th for the ‘A’ Regional Reps and February 21st for the ‘A’ Wild Cards.
